Welcome to Active Alternatives Kinesiology & Training

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is the scientific study of how the body moves. How we go about our daily lives impacts how we hold our bodies during times of both stress and relaxation. Kinesiologists take a proactive approach to identifying and correcting musculoskeletal imbalances and functional instabilities.

What does a Kinesiologist do?

A Kinesiologist applies their understanding of how the body moves to test, train, and rehabilitate. A kinesiologist will assess your function and make a plan to improve the quality of your movement.

Who needs kinesiology?

Everyone! Whether sedentary or highly active, any person can benefit from identifying movement patterns that are causing pain or preventing them from achieving peak athletic performance.

Examples please...

  • Functional movement screens and biomechanical analysis, where poor movement patterns and asymmetries are identified.
  • Personal training, where an individualized program is developed to meet specific needs.
  • Sport specific training, where programs are developed to increase performance.
  • Rehabilitation, where strength and conditioning are improved and new movement patterns are developed.
